Powermail Pro v1.8 beta has been released tonight for anyone to try.
The following features are included:
• Whitelist and blacklist for emails accepted
• Remove html to keep all received content similar
• Easily place all content on frontpage without powertags
• Easily place all content in registered areas without powertags
• Add Intro limits for any article by user or account or globally
• Remote control publishing without logging in!!
• Downsize images to your chosen storage
• Separate display size for images in addition to storage size control
• License re-issue controlled by user for any unlimited licenses (not for 2 week trial or one year licenses)
Also some bugs with Umlaut were addressed as well.
We will be posting some instructions and tutorials soon for utilizing these.
Powerful features
The newest powerful features will be the intro limit control, the new controls for sizing images that are received and displaying a different size by user or globally, in addition to the ability to turn off the html for received text so that your text will be displayed symmetrically for all users. This can be controlled by user, account or globally.
Remote control
One of the newest cool features is: "Remote publishing" or "Remote unpublishing" of articles. Since no instructions are included yet, see below for how to use this neat feature.
Only a superadministrator can do this currently. To do this, simply send an email to any of your accounts that are actively working with the title being as follows: (the body of the email doesn't matter)
{publish 235} or
{unpublish 235}
The number refers to any article that you wish to publish or unpublish. (even if the article wasn't received via PowerMail) When this email is received by Powermail, your article's status will be changed. You will not get an admin reply for this email sent to your PowerMail install.
Security Boost
For the whitelist and blacklist, keep in mind that if you utilize this, any email on the blacklist will disappear completely and will not appear in the website nor will you get notice of it. If you use a whitelist, emails not on the whitelist will also disappear into cyberspace without a trace. The sender will not know what happened to their email since they will not get a bounce or anything. You must communicate to your users that they must notify you to add their email to your list or it will not be received. This will be a very strong security help for Powermail!!
This beta should be stable, however we have some final touches for language files and help files. We have released this beta due to the demand for these features. If you are interested in translating PowerMail into a language that is not already supported, please inquire if we have someone. Language supporters are offered a discount.
